Crafting Stories from Life and Imagination
with Ashley Dowd

Course Overview:
This one-week course focuses on writing short, powerful vignettes, drawing inspiration from personal experience, and imagination. Students will learn how to craft stories that capture a moment, character, or feeling in a concise form. By the end of the week, each student will have created a portfolio of 3-4 polished vignettes, demonstrating their development as storytellers.
Course Goals:
To introduce the concept and craft of writing vignettes: short, vivid, self-contained stories.
To develop students’ ability to capture a moment, mood, or character in a few well-chosen words.
To experiment with different narrative styles, voices, and perspectives.
To refine writing through peer feedback and revision.
To create a portfolio of 3-4 vignettes suitable for publication or further development.
Required Materials:
Notebook or digital writing device (for in-class writing exercises).
A portfolio binder or digital folder (for collecting final vignettes).
Suggested readings (provided by instructor).

American Heart Association CPR/BLS/AED Training- Link
with Ronald Jackson

This course is for individuals seeking certification in CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS). Students will receive up-to-date training and instruction in the areas of basic CPR administration; choke relief; proper Automated External Defibrillator (AED) operation; and the role of each in the chain of survival. After completing this course, students will receive a certification card to their email address from the American Heart Association.
Healthcare Analytics-From Raw Data to Real Life Use Cases

This class will be starting October 2, 2025 on for 4 weeks:
Thursdays from 8-10am (virutal link will be provided)
Saturdays from 9-11am (Link in Ponte Vedra)
This hands-on course introduces students to the foundational principles and practical applications of healthcare analytics, with a focus on transforming raw data into meaningful insights that support decision-making across the healthcare ecosystem. Students will learn to work with diverse healthcare data—understanding its structure, cleaning and preparing it, conducting analytical procedures, and presenting findings clearly to stakeholders.
In addition to technical training, the course explores the application of analytics in multiple healthcare business functions:
● Marketing: Segment patient populations, optimize outreach, and evaluate campaign effectiveness
● Customer Acquisition & Engagement: Analyze patient behavior, improve access strategies, and personalize service offerings
● Finance: Forecast costs, assess ROI on health programs, and support budgeting with data-driven insights
● Contracting: Support value-based care arrangements, analyze payer performance, and inform contract negotiation using historical data Key Topics:
● Understanding and interpreting healthcare data (claims, clinical, operational, etc.)
● Data wrangling and preparation for analysis
● Exploratory data analysis and data visualization
● Statistical and predictive modeling techniques
● Application of tools: Excel, R, Python, and SPSS
● Communicating insights through dashboards and presentations
● Use case-driven analysis in marketing, finance, and healthcare operations
